Description

A rich and creamy Indian chicken dish that captivates the senses with its aromatic spices and flavors.


Ingredients

  • 600 g chicken breast, diced
  • 150 g plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder (optional)
  • 400 g crushed tomatoes
  • 150 ml cream (or coconut milk)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Fresh coriander for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken: Mix all marinade ingredients in a large bowl, add chicken, mix thoroughly, and let sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Cook the chicken: Heat oil in a pan and sauté marinated chicken until golden brown (about 6-8 minutes). Remove the chicken and set aside.
  3. Prepare the sauce: In the same pan, melt butter and sauté onions until translucent (about 5 minutes). Add garlic and ginger, and sauté for another minute.
  4. Add spices and tomatoes: Stir in coriander powder, garam masala, and chili powder. Add crushed tomatoes and let simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Incorporate cream and sugar: Add cream and sugar, and let it simmer gently for another 5 minutes.
  6. Return the chicken: Place the cooked chicken back in the pan and let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Serve: Garnish with fresh coriander and enjoy warm with basmati rice or naan.

Notes

Marinate the chicken overnight for deeper flavors. This dish also tastes better the next day.
